Invictus Energy Limited (ASX:IVZ), an independent upstream oil and gas company, has announced the appointment of Robin Sutherland as its Non-Executive Director. He will take charge of the role from today, the 1st of February 2023. Following the news update, IVZ shares rose 3.225 per cent against the previous close and traded at AU$0.160 apiece with a market capitalisation of AU$150.96 million.
Recently, the company also appointed John Bentley as Non-Executive Chairman of the company.
An insight into Mr. Sutherland’s profile
Robin Sutherland has first class honours degree in Geophysics from Edinburgh University and holds an extensive experience of around 35 years in the African E&P sector. Over the years, he has served numerous technical as well as leadership positions.
Mr. Sutherland began his association with Energy Africa in the year 1997 as a specialist geophysicist. He participated and contributed immensely to many crucial hydrocarbon resource discoveries in several countries across Africa.
In 2004, Energy Africa was acquired by Tullow, following which he led the exploration team at Tullow for the discovery and appraisal of the Jubilee and TEN fields in Ghana, and the Lokichar Basin in Kenya. Later in 2015, he took over as Tullow’s GM Exploration Africa of.
In the year 2020, Mr. Sutherland started a consultancy business, wherein he helped companies in exploration, appraisal and development of extensive natural resources across the continent.

Speaking on new appointment, Managing Director Scott Macmillan expressed his delight to welcome Mr. Sutherland to the Board of Invictus. He commented that Mr. Sutherland brings a fantastic track record of discovery, appraisal and development of some of the most significant oilfields on the African continent.
