Highlights

  • JORC mineral resource estimate (MRE) over the Madube clay deposit (Bitterwasser Project) has been declared
  • Maiden MRE of 13,716,390 tons (average grade of 553 ppm) is declared over the Madube Pan
  • Clear trend from drilling outlined that grade increased to depth with holes ending at >900ppm Li
  • In addition, cyclone test work to be conducted on Madube Pan samples to determine potential for grade increase, such as at the Eden Pan where grade increased by 28%
  • Overall Mineral Resources at Bitterwasser Clay Project Pans increased from 286,909 LCE tons to 327,284 LCE tons
  • CEO Philip le Roux has lauded the increase in Lithium-in-Clay Mineral Resource and said the resource could surpass 500,000 of LCE tons from other pans

Arcadia Minerals (ASX: AM7) -- which is into the exploration of lithium, tantalum and other battery metals with focus on the Namibian region -- has informed about the increase of lithium clay resource at the Bitterwasser Clay Project Pans to over 327,000 LCE tons. Previously, this figure was close to 287,000 LCE tons.

AM7 has said that the Maiden Mineral Resource estimate (MRE) over the Madube Pan is 13,716,390 tons (average grade of 553 ppm). Drilling activity confirms 40,375 tons of Li2CO3 Equivalent.

Reaching a total mineral resource of 500,000 tons LCE is aimed from future exploration works over the Bitterwasser Pan District.

Maiden MRE over Madube Pan

Creo Design prepared the maiden MRE for the Madube Pan lithium project. Madube Pan (EPL 5354) is a part of the Bitterwasser Lithium in Clay Project (Namibia). One more Pan at Bitterwasser, the Eden Pan, also has a Mineral Resource.

Madube drilling consisted of 24 holes. During drilling, high groundwater temperatures of up to 39°C from boreholes close to the saltpans indicated geothermal heat source and mineralisation provenance.

Auger sampling has confirmed a lithium-rich clay resource, which the company says has comparable grade and extent to that of big exploration companies in Nevada, USA.

Lithium-clay mineralisation at Madube Pan is spatially continuous, and clays have more thickness and lithium content at central portions of the pan with lithium grade of ~990ppm. This suggests that Madube Pan is comparable to projects at productive lithium mines in other parts of the world.

The summary of estimated JORC compliant Mineral Resource is below.

Further work at Madube pan

AM7 has said that further works would be carried out to increase the MRE over Madube Pan from Inferred to Indicated/Measured. These activities would include a dedicated diamond core drilling program, investigation of the potential of lateral continuation of pan sediments, and precise survey of Madube Pan borehole collars and data remodelling.

Notably, at Bitterwasser, there are unexplored six neighbouring pans and six pans elsewhere aside from Madube and Eden Pans, which would also receive attention during future exploration works, the company has said.
