About Company

Listed in May 2021, Black Canyon Limited (ASX:BCA) is an Australian manganese explorer with a portfolio of prospective tenements located in the mineral-rich Pilbara region of Western Australia.

The company is backed by a proven leadership team with a strong experience in exploration success and project development execution. The company aims to execute exploration programs across its tenement portfolio.

BCA follows the strategy of discovering and developing manganese mines. In the long run, the company remains committed to adding value through downstream processing to produce high-purity battery precursor manganese sulphate.

Its 100%-owned projects represent a large exploration footprint, aiding the company to achieve its objective of becoming a dominant ASX-listed manganese-focused explorer/developer in the Pilbara region. The project portfolio offers exposure to opportunities for the development of minerals that find application in the steel industry and growing EV battery space.

Manganese is one of the most consumed metals in the world by tonnage. Of the total, approximately 90% is used in steel.

There has been an increasing demand for manganese in the growing EV battery market as Nickel-Cobalt-Manganese (NCM) is the dominant cathode chemistry used in Li-ion batteries.

Robust project portfolio

Black Canyon’s tenement portfolio comprises both 100%-owned tenures as well as tenements held in a joint venture (JV). BCA has a farm-in and JV with Carawine Resources Limited (ASX:CWX) for the Carawine Project.

The following projects constitute the company’s portfolio:

  • Flanagan Bore Project (prospective for manganese)
  • Braeside Project (presence of manganese mineralisation confirmed)
  • Oakover West Project (significant manganese and iron mineralisation encountered)
  • Oakover East Project (prospective for manganese and copper)
  • Lofty Range Project (outcropping manganese mineralisation confirmed)

The Flanagan Bore Project contains 100%-owned as well as Carawine JV tenements. The project portfolio suggests the potential for Woodie Woodie (hydrothermal) and Butcherbird (supergene) styles of mineralisation.
