NSW government roll-out COVID-19 digital vaccination certificate

  • NSW has announced that the COVID-19 digital certificate has begun rolling out to the overall state.
  • Only a fully vaccinated person would get a COVID-19 digital certificate.

Since February 2021, a total of 10,459,088 doses of COVID-19 vaccines have been administered. Now, the vaccinated people would be able to link their vaccination certificate with the NSW Check-in app.

Once the person is fully vaccinated with an approved vaccine, they can get a COVID-19 digital certificate. This certificate can be added to the Service NSW app, which would prove the vaccination status at the time of check in to a venue.

On 15 October 2021, the NSW government announced that the COVID-19 digital certificate started to roll out in the overall state. The user requires a MyServiceNSW Account to attach the proof of COVID-19 vaccination to the Service NSW app. The account connects the user online with the NSW government services quickly and safely.

When a person adds COVID-19 digital certificate to the Service NSW app, the certificate is store on the phone and ensures that the person’s privacy is not compromised.

Advantages of the App

The process of adding COVID-19 digital certificate: In order to add a COVID-19 digital certificate to the mobile, the user needs to have a MyServiceNSW Account along with the latest version of the Service NSW app. Once the process is done, users can add their COVID-19 digital certificate through the Express Plus Medicare app or Medicare online account through myGov.

Checking into Venues

Many businesses are required to maintain a record of the person visiting their premises in the present times. If a COVID-19 infected person enters the premises, the app alerts another person who came in close contact with the infected person. Contact tracing is one of the most effective tools to prevent the spread of COVID-19 in the community.

With the Service NSW app on the mobile, the user would enter the premises using the QR code with the mobile camera. Once the process is done, the app’s check-in page opens automatically. The user can even check out of the venue for more precise tracing.

At some venues, it would be important that the person has proof of vaccination and proof of check-in. If a person is medically exempt, they can show evidence of exemption which they get from the medical practioners.

Proof of vaccination is needed for residents aged 16 years and above. A person below 16 years is allowed to enter the premises.
