Election Dates Announced By The Australian Prime Minister

As per the media reports, Prime Minister, Scott Morrison has announced the election dates for the upcoming Federal Election on May 18, 2019, along with other dates such as Issue of Writs on April 11, 2019, Close of Rolls by 8 pm on April 18, 2019, Close of Candidate Nominations by midday on April 23, 2019, Declaration of Candidate Nominations by midday on April 24, 2019, Early Voting starts on April 29, 2019, and Return of Writs on June 28, 2019.

Electoral Commissioner, Mr. Tom Rogers has informed that all the Australians aged 18 and above are required by law to enrol (compulsory to vote) and vote in the 18th May federal election. Mr. Rogers has requested all the Australians to check their current status at the AEC website, and update their details if in case they want to change their address, name, or any required details.

The election will be one of the biggest turf of war between the current Coalition government and the Australian Labour Party. Till now, both the parties have accused each other over inefficiencies in both the governance style. Labour Party has emphasised over the inability of present government in failing to control corruption and stagnated growth rate. They have even accused the present government to be unstable, as under the current regime, for three times the position of the Prime Minister has changed. There is a defence from the current government that, under their regime, the efficiency across the sectors has improved and purchasing strength has improved. Sectors such as mining, utilities are working at their par potential along with the public administration.

As per analysts,  mining and utilities sectors have performed well continuously; however, sectors such as manufacturing, construction and agriculture are yet to reach their peak potential.
